The first game of the 2020-2021 Grand Blanc Bobcat Basketball season finally happened on a chilly Tuesday night at Bay City Central High School. High School hoops have been shelved for nearly a full year. Our Bobcats were positioned well for a deep run in the playoffs in March of 2020 before the season was canceled. Grand Blanc lost some key players from last season but this year’s squad is ready to claim their spot in Bobcat history.
It would be understandable due to the pandemic, the massive pause in winter sports, having to wear masks, that the Bobcats could have been rusty – Uh NO THAT WAS NOT THE CASE! Our Bobcats dominated the game from the opening whistle. Suffocating defense, unselfish play, tremendous intensity, and the RJ Taylor & Ty Rodgers chemistry is out of this world. Actually, the chemistry of the entire squad was very impressive.
Ty Rodgers showed why he is one of the best in the 2022 class and RJ Taylor did the same and is one of the highest-ranked players in the 2023 class. But truly, Grand Blanc is LOADED and young. Sophomore Amonte Allen-Johnson had an incredible night with his defensive energy and playmaking skills is another difference-maker.
The Bobcats travel to Powers Catholic Friday night. Stay Tuned!
