Bobcats Defeat Southgate Anderson United 5-4 January 4, 2020

Grand Blanc, we need your feedback. This is the first of many game summary blogs we plan on doing this year. If everything works the way it is supposed to once this blog publishes it should automatically be shared on many of our social media channels. For those of you getting this in Arizona, Kansas, and Illinois, we just wanted to begin showing you the capabilities we are bringing forward to enrich our mission of #sharingthegood. It is vital we get your feedback. Other than grammar issues, which will improve once we can add high school intern writers to the team, please let us know what you think of the formatting, any snags, load speed on mobile, or please if you LOVE it please let us know. Together we can create new, fresh, positive, community content, but we need your continued feedback to constantly improve. Please leave comments at the end of the blog or on any of the social channels. Please also like, love, share this content on your social pages, and tag the athletes in the photos so they can gain more exposure if they aspire to play college sports. Let’s do this….:)

Here is the summary of today’s Bobcat victory over Southgate United.

The Grand Blanc Bobcats Hockey team played their 10th game of the season earlier today but this was only their 2nd home game. One of their top players, Sophomore Hunter Bankstahl, suffered a torn spleen and was unable to play until today.

The Bobcats were very young last year but are being to come into their own now. Grand Blanc Senior Captain, Hayden Seguin, was proud of the team’s resilience overcoming an 0-2 deficit early in the game with Junior Bobcat, Trey Peterson, scoring two goals to tie it up with the second goal coming at the buzzer to end period one. Trey has been on fire scoring four goals in the last two games.

The Bobcats went up 3-2 in the closing seconds of the second period with a goal by Hunter Bankstahl. Southgate United tied the game early in the third period, then Assistant Captain, Alex Mosqueda scored the fourth goal to give the Bobcats a brief lead at 4-3. Southgate answered to tie the score at four. Our senior captain, Hayden Seguin then hit the game-winning goal in the 3rd period.

Captain Sequin stated, “I am very encouraged by the effort of the younger players and that all lines contributed”. He also knows the Bobcats need to continue to improve their defense to take some pressure off of their goalies, Luc Roberts and Nick Hensley. Rylee Edmonds had a strong game with three assists. Luc Roberts was in goal for today’s victory.

This win should help start some momentum for our Bobcats with the majority of the rest of the games being at home at Dort Federal Credit Union Event Center. Next, the Bobcats travel to Midland to take on Midland Dow on 1/8/20 at 7:15 pm, then they are back at home hosting Oxford/Avondale next Saturday at 2:30 pm.

Please come out and support your Bobcats and leave comments to let us know how we did with this blog post. We have to finish up because lots of coverage awaits us tonight at the 2nd Annual Gottagetit Hoops Challenge at Grand Blanc High. Everyone have a great rest of your weekend. Marty.
